Here's the deal bike won't start again after it warms up,
however it will start if you push it.
Let the bike cool down and it will start again.
This one has a few mechanics baffled.
So far all I can think is that heat is affecting the starter or it's electrical.
What do you think...?

Check the Ground lug underneath the starter. Its a bitch to get to. Buddy had a problem kind of like yours and that is where we found the problem.

I was thinking ground issues too. Try the battery negative cable also.

Agree with the ground then circuit breaker or starter relay. Maybe do a load test on the starter to see what it's pulling.

Agree Wrench53 the starter could be failing under the heat.

What year is the bike?

My '06 did that when it was hot. Hit the start button and nothing happens. It would click when released. I cleaned the contacts on the starter solenoid with emery cloth and it hasn't missed a start since. Seven months or so since the fix. Might want to give that a try,it's quick and easy. Hope it works for you too!!

I agree with the others about ground if the bike want turn over, but you didn't say. If the bike want turn over, then yes possible ground prob. But, if it turns over and not start. It maybe the coil is the prob. When a coil goes bad, they have no fire when hot but work fine when cold.

This happened to me once on a rental Road Glide. I was heading down I-15 from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas and got caught in a blizzard so white I couldn't barely see the road in front of me. Fortunately, I found an exit and got over to a small little hole in the earth with one gas station and two trailers.

I waited out the snow and then got back on the bike, only to discover it wouldn't start. I'd been riding the bike half-way through Utah with no problem (aside from the snow & wind), but it just would not crank. Called the dealer and they were ready to send someone to pick me up. Then the gas station owner told me to move the bike because he needed to get a car in the garage.

Once I'd moved the bike, I tried it again and it started right up. Never had the problem for the rest of the trip.
