I found a pretty good deal on a vivid black 09 SG. I'm a little scared of the vivid black because it is a pain to keep looking nice. I'm into speed, so I like that black for that, but will I be a slave to keeping it up? I ride about 10000 miles a year.
It does not take that much more work to keep it pretty.......I just keep a microfiber rag in the bag and when ever I am sitting i wipe a little......other wise the high speeds keep it pretty Clean
I've had my Vivid Black for 3 years and don't find it hard to keep clean. I use a quick detail spray and microfiber clothes between washes and it always looks great. Make sure to get the dust off before you do the quick detail or you'll get swirl marks.
I have two vivid black bikes. A bagger and a softail. Its not that bad to keep them clean. Yes, they show dust quicker than lighter colors, but if you stay on top of it, it doesn't take long to clean them off. I actually enjoy cleaning them as its almost like a zen stress relief thing one or two nights a week or so. I just use plain water and cloth baby diapers, but might try the quick detailer this year. If you just clean the tins, you can do it in 20 min or less. The satisfaction of seeing that black shine is worth it to me.
