Default Loctite or Anti-sieze?

I'm swapping out stock zinc bolts to chrome bolts on primary, tranny, cam covers, tappet blocks, etc. I am running them all thru a thread die first. Since these are steel (chrome plated) going into aluminum what should I use?

First choice would be anti-seize but in liew of that, Lock-tite will suffice too as it also has anti-seize properties. (blue or green). Better then not using anything at all. Lightly coat the whole bolt though.

Good tip there Badd. I wouldn't have the patience to die cut the chrome off before installing.

Personally, I'd go with loctite.

I'd look in the service manual and see what HD recommends and go with that.

+3 for locktite, it has thread locking ability so the bolts don't vibrate out. Never seeze does not it just protects the threads , as the name says.

Default hard choice

that is a hard choice to make. loctite will keep the bolts from vibrating loose but I'm not sure if it will stop the corrosive action between the steel and alunimium. The anti-seize will stop corrosion but is a lubericant and may let the bolts loosen.

I once made the mistake of running chrome bolts without die cutting or lube of any kind. Wow, what a disaster. As long as you're die cutting the chrome off first I'd go with Loc-tite.
