Default Rear Brake Light

Ok, here's the scoop. I just completed the wiring for my new handlebar installation. I used Novello wiring extensions, managed to get all the wires through the bars, made the connections and tested it. Well, the turn signals, headlight, brights, front brake light, all work. However, I tried the rear foot brake and didn't see any response from the tail light.

Any thoughts?

Mind you, I did the wiring and all work without any service manual, so I'm not sure, if it's the wiring, where to begin diagnosing the problem.

First, can anyone tell me if the rear brake has an electrical connection in the headlight with everything else? Can anyone tell me where the rear brake sensor button is located?

Currently, I have not ordered the clutch cable or brake line, so the lever controls are still not attached. At first I freaked because I couldn't get the front brake to trigger the light either, but then I found where the sensor was for it, pushed it, and it worked fine, so I've concluded that the light itself is working.

Very happy with the bars and the whole process so far. I was just reading on another forum that the exhaust has to be loosened enough to get at the tranny cover to swap out the clutch cable. Can anyone here confirm that?

I'll post pics when the project is done.

Thanks!!

there is a pressure sensing switch on the rear brake line that actuates the rear brake light. as long as the front switch actuates it, thats usually what it is. Check your rear brake switch, probably a bad connection. A dealer should be able to warranty one for you

Does the rear brake switch wiring have any relationship to all the other wiring inside the headlight that I messed with while putting on my bars?

shouldn't have. especially since your brake light comes on when you hit the front lever (right?) if it were blowing a fuse, i'd say its probably something you did.
