1. Which SE pushrods did you install? Part no.? If they are the new 18404-08, the TPI is 24 and IMO 3 complete turns is perfect. (.125")
2. Did you check the adjusters and upper pushrods for anodizing flash in the oil ports? Had to run a drill bit through all 4 adjusters to clean up the set I installed. Would have definitely obstructed the oil getting to the top end causing a lot of noise due to lack of lubrication. All brands/types of pushrods can have this obstruction.
I'm not sure of the part#(they are not tapered) but I measured 2.5 turns ant it was .105 which was was within the range according to Andrews tech guy. He said the lifters range of motion is .200 and as long as I was within .090 and .110 I should be fine. I had gone to 2.75 turns which is .130 and Quieter but out of his range so I move them back to 2.5 turns which is louder. He said if every thing was in range (crank runout, valve lash, and pushrod adj.) it should not be a problem. I guess I'll run it and hope everything is fine. I don't know what else to do. It is quiet until it warms up then then valve noise comes alive. Maybe that may help with a diagnosis. Thanks for all the replies!

The oil becomes thinner as you get the engine warmer. Sounds to me that the lifter(s) are not in the sweet spot. Or the lifter did not pump up right. Take apart 1 cover and move the engine do that the lifter is at the bottom most point. Do this when the engine is cold. Try to turn the push rod. How easy is it to turn. If it is really easy, then it is not asjust correctly and you need to adjust more. Remember give some time after you adjust that push rod so it can blled down correctly and check the play in the push rod again. Should have some resistance. I know it is a PITA, I went through this and can relate. Hope this helps.
If those pushrods are not tapered they may be hitting the tubes. Harley came out with the tapered ones to stop them from hitting the tubes with a non-stock cam. This could be the source of your noise problem.
Put a Zippers oil pump spring shim in your cam plate to raise your oil pressure. It's quiet when it's cold cause that is when the oil pressure is highest.
