Default Saddlebag Guard Bags

OKAY- - Anyone here use the Saddlebag Guard Bags with waterbottle? I usually carry a water in the saddlebags, and pull over if I need a swig -- I would imagine using the bottle that comes with the bag is more effort than it's worth, and that the water would would taste like crap after cooking in the sun on a long ride - - What's your view -- worth the money or just pack the water? (or other choice brew?)

You don't have to get the one with the waterbottle. I think they would be good for some stuff that you want to keep handy such as sunscreen an extra pair of glasses and the like. Even a convenient place to put items you want handy but not hanging off of your belt such as your wallet, cell phone, or maybe a convenient place to keep a gun out of site but within reach.

Danester...IMO I pack it inside. I need to step off and stretch anyway, plus pretty soon things start lookn like a pack mule, but then some do not mind that look... Insulated bottle is my choice. Ride safe.

Danester,

You might be better off getting those insulated mugs with a holder that mounts on the handlebar. The guardbags are good for little things, like of course, a small Walther or a Glock 27. Water also doesn't taste good in those bottles after a long hot road trip. An insulated mug is easier to reach and drink, while riding.

I got the bag with the water bottle. I got it for the left side so I could reach back and grab it without letting go of the throttle. You could argue safety there, but anyways it's all moot. Don't waste your time with the bottle. If its cold water you got in there, your pipes will warm it up QUICK! You're better off storing something cold somewhere else and pulling over when you need it. If you don't mind the clutter, go with the handlebar mount.

Well, I guess I'm in the minority here. I have the bags on both sides. On the right side I keep spare glasses, a bandana and some other stuff. On the left, I have the bag with the water bottle holder. I took the plastic HD bottle out. When I'm on the road, I stop for fuel and a bottle of water, usually with the sport top. I slide the water bottle into the holder and I'm all set for hydration until the next gas stop. I can reach back with my left hand, grab the bottle, take a swig and put it back without even taking my eyes off the road. I find it extremely convenient (as does my wife). The extra storage space for "little things" is very handy. I don't have to dig around in the saddle bags looking for these things. Frankly, I think the sadlebag guard bags are among the better add-ons I have purchased. Plus, I think they look pretty cool on my RKC.

I have them on both sides of mine and replaced the cheap bottle with an insulated thermos that I can use with just one hand,I am a Mt.Dew addict and I keep it full,Wife keeps water in hers.I find them very easy to use,I only glance at it when I am putting it back[sm=biker2.gif]

Everyone has an opinion so here is mine. I use my water bottle holder everyday to carry my coffee to work. It keeps it out of the bag, incase of spills, and handy for waiting at stop lights. On trips I can keep coffee handy in the morning and after that I keep gatorade in the water bottle. This is great for between stops when riding 2.5 to 3 hours at a time. Once you pull the bottle out at 70 mph you will not get it back in so I just rest in between the handlebars and windshield until the next stop.

Anyway that's my two cents.
