I would say ask them why it is over the estimate, I would also work with them. Years ago, I had a guy custom paint my Snap On tool boxes. He gave me a great price, when he dropped them off he said he had to raise the price because he had 24 hours in the boxes. I saw red and let him know I was pissed. He apologized and cut the price down. I reached in my wallet and said "a man is only as good as his word". I went way to far, I should have kept my big mouth shut. Things were never the same.

Price was for all this installed and the parts listed? dealers by me get 785 to buy and install painted inner. price does not too bad, but that is not what we are pondering on.
From my experience, the dealers are not gonna skrew you if you call them on it but if you never ask... they will bend you over. show them the quote see what they say. most quotes say +/- 20% in the high end. look into it and report back.

something I was taught years ago: If you can't do the job yourself (be it time or skill), you are at the mercy of the one with the skill. That still does not give them the right to rake you over the coals. I am sure this will all work out. My suggestion would be to either make the time or learn the skill or get used to crap like this

If you have the quote in writing and this topic comes up again, I would show the quote and ask why so much diffrence. Quotes are supposed to be close give or take. I would work with the shop. If they are unreasonable go up the ladder at the dealership.

Ask around. State law here requires they honor written estimate with no more than a 20% overage (I think). Wrench will not proceed without talking to you because of that.

Talk to them to find out why the price jumped up so much. Sounds like he promised more than he could deliver for the money. The tough part is keeping emotion out of the discussion....it's business, not personal. If you can see where they made an error, it might be wise to offer to split the difference. I am assuming that you want to have a good relationship with the dealer after this deal is over.

Just my opinion!

I would like to keep the relationship that I thought I had... we have had a good working relationship so far and I really dont want that to change. As far as the inner, it was to remove and paint my inner not for a new one... I had to buy the paint in that price and believe me that wasnt cheap... the Crimson Red Sunglow isnt a cheap color, as it is a two-step paint... but it turned out sharp, I think... I posted a separate post a lil bit ago and it shows the pictures... check them out...

Thanks for all the adivice I will talk to them, and I would hope that I could keep emotions out of the picture... hopefully they will understand! Thanks again guys... ride safe!

Need to talk with them to find why and what. Hard to imgine what can cause it to go up so much. I would push them on it. They are the experts who quoted it not you.

I'm afraid F U would have been an involuntary response before he got the 1000 cleared from his lips... and repeat as necessary.

Four hundred over the quote! Not without my approval. They need to give you an explanation.

That would ruin my relationship with them forever...period.

So who's to say they will not change the $1000 quote? They changed it once already!
I would certainly be asking why the first quote changed.I would be holding them to the orginal written quote or have the work done elsewhere.
