Also if you are going to use loctite there is a high tempature blue loctite (removeable).

Regular loctite is only good to 300 degrees.

This is this a link to the loctite company's guide to the proper use of loctite.

Everyone can do as they please. If the service manual says to replace and you do not then you could be the cause of an accident or injuring yourself or loved one.

Personally, a few bolts are cheap concidering the possibilities.

It doesn't mean I'm a PU$$Y. Or I am rich. I like to keep the rubber side down. And I would prefer everyone else does too.....

I agree it doesn't make someone a ***** if they follow the service manual. I also believe some things (rotor bolts in particular) are only in there because HD's lawyers make them put it in there.

I doubt seriously the HD lawyers had anything to do with the recommendation.
Usually it's Engineering, who after extensive testing, determines the failure/fatigue rate.
I'd say it has a pretty high probability of failure if they suggest to be replaced after every removal.
Replace em they're cheap - it's not worth finding out the hard way!
Besides - for $25 (in chrome), they'll look great on those shiny rotors!

Then I would suggest also changing out with new: Axle nuts, caliper bolts, oil drain plug, handlebar clamp bolts, seat screw etc. If any of those things came off it would be catastrophic.

The manual does not require replacement of these items, just proper tq avlues, but feel free to change them if you want.

Those are grade 8 bolts going into almunium, I have reused rotor bolts forever with no problem, just make certian you clean all the old loctite off and then reapply it before reinstalling them.
I believe Harley recomemds replacing bolts because a lot of people are not wise enough to clean them and use fresh loctite, it just covers there ***.
