I predict you're gonna love it! I came off an 03 Fatboy with SE Heads, Big Bore, Woods Cams, Thunderheader so I did the 95" with SE203 Cams before I picked my SG up. It runs GREAT! Very quick and smooth. The Fatboy ran really strong and on occasion I miss the bit extra ooomph, but not typically. It was nowhere near as smooth. I don't know it the SG is the best riding Harley or not, (although I think it rides VERY nice), but I AM blown away by the handling of the big bike. The lowered suspension and balance is unreal. I can throw this thing into tight corners and really lean into it this bike MUCH MUCH better and with more confidence than I ever could with my Fatboy, and I loved that bike.
Go for It, you will love It , my only real issue are the front brakes squealing, hoping the gealer will take care of it at first service.
Alot of people on this board said that having them switch the rotors (put left rotor on right side and vice versa) takes care of the squealing. I told my tech to do this, and lo and behold....squealing gone!!! Tell them to swap rotors.
Did you get any kind of deal? How much did they offer you for your Heritage?
lp
they came in 14,000 book value they didn't even come outside to look at it.and they told me to take off all the add ons and put on the stock exhaust..so now i have a samson true dualexhaust ,engine guard, passenger floorboards and the trans motor interface chrome cover's to sell.so if anyone interested let me know
You might find that a lot of what you take off the other bike will fit the new SG. Nothing better then getting use out of the extra's that you arleady have.
I too went from a softtail (03 Night Train) to the SG. AFter riding home from Laconia last year. My elbow started bothering me (developed tendonitis from holding on against the wind). So I decided that I would upgrade to a tourer.
Got the SG and had a 95" HTCC kit along with the SE slipons (OOPS forget about that rumors are that they are being discontinued). The power is awesome (for the 8 miles I rode it before tearing the bike apart).
I have put over 400 miles on my bike since picking it up on Thursday afternoon. Great bike, it rides very smooth and has plenty of power to get around with. But being the power hungry guy I am I will be getting a 95" kit or something similar. I also need an exhaust. My exhaust is TOO QUIET!!!!! I cannothear it at alla round other riders.
Other then that the bike is great, added a couple primary and timing covers and ordered mroe parts..... the spending begins
Congrats man!! When I first saw a pic of a SG last Sept. my Blk Cherry Deluxe went on the market, never have looked back since, although, I do still keep a few photos of her here and there
Congrats... guess the counterbalancers being gone made no difference to you on the new bike... That might have been the question, but must not be one...
