Well it happend, the 21" wheel and tire have been on for about a month and since the weather is crazy here, 80 one day, 40 the next, I get to ride every now and then. The other day get back from around a 120 mile ride and look at my front fender and notice some bubbling and discoloration in the middle on the back side, the tire must have expanded and caused friction and heated the paint!!!!
When I installed the wheel and tire I checked the clearence, no problems, no rubbing, thought I would be good, and wouldn't have to do the fender mod. The tire is a metzler and I guess it expanded on me! Just thought I would share, now it is either do the fender mod and repaint or new front fender and paint, you guys think this is covered by my warranty?
No dealer in their right mind is going to believe a 16" tire heats up enough to blister the paint on a fender. If that were the case, every touring bike ever made would have crap paint on the front fender.
Own up to your mistake, learn from it and get it fixed, the right way at your expense.
