I run a 6" Windvest and it does the job for me. Im 6'2". I ran a 6.5" Clearveiw for 75,000 miles on my last bike. I sat a little lower on that bike as I had a Mustang solo on it that sat about two inches lower then stock. The seat height makes a big difference.

I'm 5'10" and running the 4" Windvest. The curved lip made a big difference over stock. I wanted to keep the stock low profile look, but kick the wind up off the head. I think this is as good as it gets without a serious jump in windshield height.

I am 5' 9" and I use a 9 1/2 Clearview smoked recurve. I can see over it and I get no wind blast.

I'm 5'11" and I have a 9" smoke recurved Long Ride shield. Very minimal buffeting and I look 2" over the top.
