Need suggestions quick...........
I’m in the market for a 2007 or 2008 Street glide. I found an absolute killer deal on a sweet 2008 Road Glide that I hate to pass up. I like the RG a lot. The problem is I am a bit short for the bike (5'7"). No problem lowering it but my question is this -
1) Are there any tricks to getting closer to the bars (maybe a different seat)
2) Could I replace the handle bars so they are more comfortable for my size. I need more pullback; I am pretty stretched out w/ the original setup. What bars would do the trick w/out sacrificing the looks.
This bike will not last; he is holding it for me till tomorrow. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick

If the deal is truley great I would buy it and deal with the adjustments later. There are a number of aftermarket bars out there for the baggers and seats can be reworked. It may cost a bit to make some changes but if it is the bike that you want and at a good price then if it were me I would jump on the deal. JMO
Rayers...welcome to the forum and you have plenty of options!
You can always try an HD Reach Seat for you bike...Lowers you 1/2" and forward a 1/2". I'm 5'6" and this worked great for me! MeanCityCycles also does seat work that will blow your mind!
Handlebars can be replaced to bring them closer to you and improve wrist angle...KlockWerks...Wild 1 Chubbys...And I even think HeliBars now makes a trick on for your RG!
Do your research...plenty of info out there and endless ways to make your ride yours!
Now go buy that RG and Join us on the road!
Again, Welcome and Ride safe!

look at harlet catalog online.
Note several internet site will give 20% off and no tax for genuine harley parts, but are required to know order numbers.
examples: zanottis, chicago harley davidson, surdyke harley davidson
#1 a very large selection of seats are available and there is a company in the classified section? of forum that alters your seat..they can remove foam from the front of seat so your legs will be closer together and that will give you more foot reach and they can remove foam from center to lower you..all kinds of stuff and still look stock.
#2 a huge number of bars are available but some will require changing of cables

Watch ezbay for some stock streetglide shocks, I see them there from time to time. That will lower you an inch. You might try to rotate the bars down a bit that might get them a little closer too.
Good luck, welcome aboard.

Currently I am riding a Low Rider, obviously no problems with the reach. I love the way that bike fits me, I’v had it for six years.
The RG is set up radically different. But I am ready for the comfort, cruise control not to mention tunes………
Again, thanks for the help.

I had a SG on order but went with a UC however with my height of 5.8, everybody suggested the hertige bars that pull back a little farther and combine that with the work that MeanCityCycles.com can do to the seat not to mention using the HD Low profile rear shocks, your options are limitless. If it is a good deal go with it. Thats the best part of owning a harley, making it fit you and making it your own
I know this might be a crazy question, but even so, if you're looking at for a Street Glide, why are you contemplating buying a Road Glide? Just because it's a good deal? Believe me, I've done that before and it never worked for me. The thrill of getting a screaming good deal soon wears off every time you see one of the models that you really wanted. And it will grow on you like a bad car wreck. If you really love the RG, fine, I'm just sayin'.....Been there, done that, and I ended up having to let her go to get what I really wanted.... Give it some serious thought, even with the great deal.
