Serious misuse of the word tech. These guys drink moonshine and play banjos.

>>EPA has a lot to do with your brand new synthetic oil burning cars. Do you really believe that the EPA would certify cars for road use that burned 1-2 quarts of oil every 5K miles? Get serious, all of your statements are made in a world of myths.<<

Well OK Mr. Pots, we will accept that the EPA has something to do with all this and isn't a myth and the only cars, planes, motorcycles, lawnmowers and any other combustion engine that does burn oil somehow squeek through the certification.

Have you ever talked to a mechanic? Any mechanic? Oh, you just did.

While it is unfortunate that these discussion do sometimes take the low road, here is an article that I think is balanced for both sides and also explains the importance of oil on ring seating during break in. Its not a long read.

Ok, If you had bothered to look up the EPA requirments for small motors (I.E. Motorcycles, scooters, lawn mowers, weed eaters and such) you would know that the laws ane emission requirements are 20 years old, and require very little. So based on that alone, Car requirements and small engine requirements are now where near the same and they happen to squeak through certification because the standards are very low.

Just because you are a mechanic doesnt mean anything. As far as I know, you are a hack. Just because Im in the Navy dosen't make me a good sailor. Since you want to act like you are the end all be all of this topic take a look at this link, http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/...il_1_FAQs.aspx this the Mobil Freaquently asked questions page. Since Mobil is one of the leading athorites on oil, both dino and synthetic there should be no gray area. Especially since it isn't some shade tree, back yard mechanic site like 316steath thats very first link is to Ron Paul of all people. Give me a break and get a real souce.
