I have a vivid black street glide, and the bag lids have some sctratches and scuffs. I can either buy new lids or put some of those leather lid bras on. I was curious to get some of your opinions on what would be best and still keep the bike looking good. Also if any of you guys have pics with a bike with the lid bras on could you include those too. Thanks guys and ride safe!
you can rub the majority of them out with some meguiars scratch remover, or something like it and a powerball with a cordless drill. the lid covers are alright and do agood job protecting thelids but I always had trouble with the white tape showing around the edges of the lids.took em off andsaid the heck with it. My space bar doesn't work right incase you're wonderingwhy some of my words are run to gether.
I had a black 06 street glide before the 09. I bought the lid covers and never installed them. I thought about it and then wasnt impressed with them. They are held on by velcro tabs.
If their bad enough that they can't be buffed out. Then just have them repainted, Black is easy and cheapest of all the colors to spray. No need to buy new ones. Then after you get them looking good again have clear bra put on them.
I have the same situation. In addition to passenger boot marks one of my rear speakers came loose and flipped out on the right lid. Scratched the clear coat. I came accross this product: www.motorcyclearmor.com. It is in the latest Hot Bike Baggers on page 14. According to their web site it will cover up scratches. They show bag lids with scratches before and after their product application on their web site. I don't know how good it is but I am thinking of trying it. Kind of expensive but they give a lifetime warranty and you can remove and send your protector film back to them and get a replacement when ever it gets bad enough to bother you. Of course a lifetime warranty is only good as long as they are in business.

I have run the HD lid covers on my SG for 3 years, and have had none of the issues that the other folks have had. I dont even take them off any more to ckeck things. They protect the heck out of the lids and you never see it is someone touches the lids with a foot either.
