Hi All,
I need to power two items, A garmin nuvi 500 and an XM skify2. Both are mounted with RAM mounts on the clutch and brake resevoir. I guess the XM needs to keep its cigarette adapter since thats where power is converted to 6v. I was thinking of using this:
You can always tie into the unused HID connector at the back of the headlight. That's where I power my Garmin Zumo from. I spliced a two pole flat connector in line so I could remove the cradle whenever I wanted
Yes, you can hard wire the Nuvi but you would be wise to install a inline fuse holder, about 3 bucks at the auto parts store, weathertite for about 6 bucks.
Be careful wiring your Nuvi. It only requires 5 volts and I believe 1 amp. (it should say on the cig lighter charger). I wired mine in but used a hard-wired power converter I found on the net. Cost was $15.00 or so..
