Default Dunlop Elite 3's

Looking to get some new skins for my 07 Street Glide. Well, at least the back tire. Think it would be an issue to run the stock front tire and one of these Elite 3's in the back? Front is at least 1/2 left yet.

You won't have any problems doing that. And once the front wears out, go with the Elite 3's front and rear. I've been through them all, and I really like the Elite 3's. You can always get a screamin' deal on them online, and they handle, last, and perform great. The last set (front and rear) cost me less than $210 shipped to my door. Shop for free shipping, RonAyers.com or DennisKirk.com have been good to me... Good luck

I drive Avons, they stick like glue. Tell me how the elite 3s work out in the next few months...

Hey UWeldit, let me know how those Avons wear. I had em, and I couldn't get 7500 miles out of the rear. I do ride pretty hard in the twisties and out on the highway though. I agree they are sticky, and handle very well in the corners, just too soft to get any kind of real mileage for me. I've also been through the Metz 880's, and the Continentals. These Elite 3's are really hard to beat for overall performance. Much better than the Dunlop 402's. Not as sticky as the Avons, or the Metz for that matter, but for my $$, as often as I have to put on tires, I'm staying with the Elites till something better comes along.....

You can put the 160/80/16 on with no problem on the stock rim I have it on now. And it corrects your speedometer to where you are actually going 70 mph instead of 67 when the speedo is reading 70.

I'm looking close at the same thing. Not to derail this thread at all - time for another anyway - but here's a thread I have bookmarked with some excellent E3 info:

Same here - wouldn't use anything else. Just fitted a rear 140/90x16 to my old Glide.

Mileage seems more of an issue in North America than over here in the UK, where grip and wet weather performance tend to grab our attention! Doesn't seem we can have high mileage and high grip in the same tyre, although over the years I have been riding, both are getting steadily better.

My first Harley had Goodyears - they were worth changing pretty soon....

You might consider the Elite 3's to get more wear. They have performed flawlessly in the rain, on the corners, and grip better than most. The Avons and Metz I had were good and sticky in the dry corners and highway, but they didn't perform any better on wet surfaces IMO. Ride safe

I just put the Elite 3 on my rear (160/80/B16) and am very pleased with it. I have the stock tire on front still.
