Another forum member informed me of Easter Performance's site and they have the Rocker's 240/40/18VR rear shipped for $175.00. I imagine that a FLHX rear would be even cheaper. I am ordering a new rear this weekend.
I have the Michelin Commanders and really like them. I think they're a lot better than the stock Dunlop's, but that's just my opinion. Only a seat of the pants assessment.
Only a week or so into the E3s but the extra noise from the front must have been a bit of swish from the brake shoes right after re-mounting or something - entirely gone within 50 miles or so. Obviously no wear news yet but handling is outstanding from my perspective. Almost no tendancy to track rain grooves OR draw-bridge grating. Early report - off to a great start.
BTW - LOVE the 30T crank sprocket on my '07 RK with IDS addon - geared like the scoot should have been in the first place (overall gearing is now close to how the '10s come stock).
+1 on the E-3's..... if you put the E-3 on the rear, your OEM will still track the crap on the road, so don't be surprised, and/or put off.
I got 8k on the OEM, and again with M-880, but I had over 10k with the E-3 rear, when I was down to the wear bars on my front 880. I decided to just go ahead and replace both tires and be done with it for the first half of the year and not worry. Keep the tires up to the DUNLOP recommended pressure, and you'll be in good shape
Hey RangeRat- I put on E 3's last week. Actually, did the rear tire first and rode a few days. Then, when I put on the front, I got "straight line" noise. Noise goes away when turning, but I probably don't have 50 miles on it yet. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one hearing noise and I'm encouraged by your experience that it went away.

Anyone else notice front tire noise from Elite 3?
Cheers!
I still think mine turned out GREAT pirateheadman. I'm taking the missus for another decent ride today (retirement is cool) and the more miles I put on the new stuff (30T crank sprocket and tires) the more pleased I am with the results. If you're still monitoring this thread, how are things going with your's?
