I agree. But technology just might help "stupid" live a little longer and it might help "stupid" from running into my ***.

Default ABS experience

I was riding a BMW with a passenger in the vicinity of the Outer Banks, NC and looking more at the scenery, following several cars, when I looked ahead to see all of them stopping. I hit the brakes so hard the tires chirped and my passenger slid into me. We were lucky. The bike stayed straight and upright. If I had done that with non-ABS brakes the lockup would have caused a high side.

Since this I've owned several bikes without ABS and two others with ABS. The non-ABS models have sent me sliding into intersections on wet pavement when the light changed without enough warning. Without ABS I find it much more difficult to determine how hard I can brake without lockup. I find the argument for not having ABS to be the logical equivalent of having no brakes at all. Sure you can stop without brakes but riding is much more enjoyable knowing stopping is more with brakes. And with ABS. As for with reliability, so long as there are no MADE IN CHINA labels, I trust it implicitly.

I also find the "logic" used to dis ABS to never extend to the cars and trucks owned by those making the case.

I don't know if you would have kept your bike up in this situation or not, but as the ABS would have kept your bike straight, it probably would have. In any case, whoever made that "since the rear's in full stop mode without" statement is an idiot and doesn't know jack about how ABS works.

ABS is the best single investment in your safety that you can make.

The main rule is if you lock a rear keep it locked. When a Tire locks and skids theoritically you have less braking control then a rear that is still rolling and attempting a stop.
