Last Ride...Thread #2....I'm DOWN
Was prepping my bike to go into hibernation in the back of my garage before I leave for deployment and before I washed it I wanted to top it off with gas and add fuel stabilizer.
SO....off to the gas station I go...up to Chevron for the good stuff.
Here we have side streets right off the highway and you have to watch real close what cagers are doing or as you are turning off the highway they tend to "not see" you and run right through their stop signs.
Well, here I come up Chevron and I stop at a red light...then get the green and I look to my right. Soccer mom in a big azz SUV comes to a stop and looks straight at me...then I make my right and immediate left to go onto the service road. As soon as I push left....you got it....soccer mom pushes F'n GAS.
Now I wish I had ABS!
As quick and alert as I normally am....I grabbed too much front brake in my hard left turn and I went down. Not a scratch on me...or soccer mom (lucky though she is). The bike faired really well...although I'm still pissed about the whole thing. Crash bar, primary, left saddlebag, and left Jackpot muffler all are scratched. Most of the damage is invisible unless you know it's there. Really sucks to have to put the scoot to bed...knowing things are AFU and I can't do a thing to fix it for 6 months.

To top it all off....Soccer mom, once she figures out I'm not hurt says "I saw you...you looked at me so I thought you wanted me to go" then says... "I didn't hit you...so I'm leaving"

Can you believe that? I wasn't quite done yelling at her azz yet! Still had a few explatives that hadn't come to mind at that point.
Anyway...moral of the story...
1) Get ABS...even if you think you don't need it cause you never had it before. May not have helped me in my turn situation, but hey can't hurt.
2) Watch out for soccer mom...she's a killer...and she's already in a neighborhood near you!
Oh....if anyone has take offs of any of the above items they'd like to get rid of cheap...let me know.
Ride safe...
Tony
with your front wheel turned ABS would not have helped one bit. If your front wheel is turned, you CANNOT hit your front brakes, ABS or not. If you do, it will pull you down like a magnet, as you discovered the hard way.
Making a turn or in a curve........no front brake!
