We have cats as well as dogs and most of the cats accept the dogs. We have a couple that still keep their distance but overall they all get along fine.
Are you crate training the puppy? We did when we are not home and it works well to get them to go outside.
Yes, I am crate training her. But I discovered I was using too big a crate for her and she would poop and pee in it and only sleep an hour or two at a time at night. Last night, I tried her in my pet carrier which is enough room for her to stand and lay with comfort and she slept without a peep from 9:30pm until 5:30 a.m. this morning and she had not pooped or peed in it. First full night sleep I got since I got her. Oh happy day! She's still pooping and peeing in my floor though no matter how much I take her out. She does it out there to. Oh well....we'll get there I hope.
Hey Rhonda!!! So good to see you post! Been wondering how you're doing after reducing stress! How's the pup? What's the pup's name??
So are you feeling better overall? Still stressed?
Guess what...?
I picked up my bike last Saturday (almost closing time @ the dealer). Put 86 miles on for the inaugural ride on Saturday and then did 347 on Sunday! (I put pics in an album in my profile).
I am totally stress free now, except for the stress of cleaning up puppy poop and pee! But that kind of stress I can deal with. Thankfully, I had been planning on installing new carpet for months now, think I'll wait til she's trained to do that now, lol! Her name is Savannah. Chocolate covered love.
Rhonda, glad to see you back. You'll be very glad you crate trained your pooch. We did too, and it's just been fantastic for leaving her, or for traveling. Spring is nearly here, and we'll be exchanging "great ride" stories, so keep your chin up, and and spirits high. It's all good from here on out.
Great to hear from you Rhonda - glad to hear you're keeping busy and it sounds like your spirits are up. Riding season is just starting for us in OH (and a lot of the rest of the country) so I'm sure there will be tons of posts for you to reply too. I go a week with nothing that catches my eye and then there are ten threads that I feel a need to join in on.
Good luck on the new job - and post some pix of your new puppy!
Rhonda, You always brighten my day when I see your posts. Good luck with the puppy, we just got one at Christmas time, a yellow lab named Champ. He brings us a lot of joy (and poop).
Rhonda, I forgot to mention that there are some good Labrador forums where you can get some good information and share your experiences. Just google labrador forums and you will see a wide choice.
