I want one of these things too, but DAMN..... I just priced one out with the fairing, painted in and out, radio and a aux plug for $2153.
yeah, but what makes the decision easy is to price out how much of a hit you will take if you sell/trade in your bike and buy a new street glide. that 2k looks pretty good then!
Had a Dragonfly on my road king did the radio and speakers myself and had it painted locally saved about 700 bucks Nice product had one little problem the people at dragonfly fixed me up right away good cust. service.Took it off to trade bike in sold it to someone with a rk he painted his color and loves it
I bought mine through Rice Lake HD. They have a 20% deal. I saved some good money.
Wow, they gave the discount on an aftermarket fairing? That's a good deal. Did you get it stereo ready or add all the bells and whistles with purchase?

Skratch, it's like you read my mind. I recently mulled over the idea of selling my bike and getting the street glide, but my wife bonked me on the head and said "do you remember why you bought the RKC and not the SG in the first place"? Oh yeah, I can't take the fairing off the SG when I feel like it.
I'm glad my wife has a shared interest in the bike, cause she keeps me on the straight and narrow and is always up for a ride. I already put the bug in her ear about the detach fairing. Now I just have to part with the $$ when I don't know how long I'll be employed...........
I have had a Hoppe fairing on my 02 RK for the last two years and I'm really glad that I made the investment. Quality is great, painter loved the finish and the Sirius radio makes long runs a breeze. (not to mention the cruise control too). Hope that this helps.

Not really, at least in my case. I'm struggling with whether or not to trade my 2002 Roadking. It would cost me 6k-7k but I'd get a fairing, a 96ci motor a 6 speed tranny, cruise control and a newer bike. If I add all those things to my bike it would probably cost me more. Problem is do I really need all those things and I really like my bike.

+1 on that! Which is exactly why I went with the Detachable Fairing. Not a math major in college, but I can do THAT MATH!! And it comes out the same every time I do it. Loss on current bike + increase for new bike = a whole lot more than a detachable fairing, even with custom paint..... Good point.

It sounds like you already made your decision. Do you really need all of that, no, of course not. Do you really need a detachable fairing? No to that also. The nice thing about the RK with a detachable that you can't easily do with a Street Glide or Electra Glide for that matter is take the fairing off if you want to ride with the wind in your face, RK w/ detatchable, takes only a couple of minutes.
A detachable is the next major purchase in my future, it's only a matter of which one suits me the best.
Ever notice how many aftermarket fairings are available? Ever see alot of used ones for sale? The majority (almost all) that install a fairing love them and keep them on the bike.

after putting 1 on you won't take it off except to work on the bike amd that is much easer becaust it is removable. you dont have to disconect but 1 connection. I have been looking at a 09 sg but then I stop and think I have no payment, insurance on a 03 and I would have to start all over making it mine.
I am going to order a stereo-ready Tsuk next week and have FireCap help me out with the stereo components. And, I have a good buddy who does autobody, so after is all said and done, I expect to have around $1,000 total invested...MUCH cheaper than getting a loaded fairing let alone a painted one.
