Just replaced mine on my "03" T-Sport as initial cranking was experiencing a laboring before popping off, while snap starting with the new battery. Wife's "04" sporty battery still strong.

Local Batteries Plus Store (National Chain) www.batteriesplus.com had the Dyna battery for $78 and the one for baggers for $88 w/1 year warranty compared to HD ones being 6 months.

No battery tenders used. Bikes never sit more than two weeks without running even during cold raining season of Dec/Jan here in Northern CA.

Then I bought a battery tender plus. If I'm not ridin it's plugged in. This battery is still kickin *** 5 1/2 years later. I had it checked too. So, if it's not too much of a pain for you, keep it plugged in all the time.

I'm not sure of the difference between the Battery Tender and the Battery Tender Plus. I know the Plus knows when your battery is fully charged and won't over charge it. Then it'll sense when it needs to bump it back up.

Even though the battery checks out great. It's been 5 1/2 years, I'm starting to worry again. I'm with carlgrover, a new battery brings peace of mind.
y so paranoid ikeman.

I had a 03 Fatboy that the battery went bad the 1st winter. I replaced it spring 04 with a HD battery and sold the bike in 07 and the guy that bought it still using that battery no tender ever on that one. I bought a 08 Ultra and the battery went bad the 2nd month I had it (no tender). The replacement is in there now and I bought a tender and plug it in when its sitting. You never know about a battery some last forever some don't. I had a cabin cruiser boat that had 3 batteries one for each engine and a "house" battery. I had a built in charger that worked like a batt tender and I could use either battery to start either engine so I left them in there to see how long it would last. I had one last 7 full seasons and the other one needed replaced 35 mos 1 month before the warranty was up. go figure ... both sat right beside each other and were attached to the tender/charger. I think batteries have a mind of thier own

Agree, 6 months and it went bad. Died with no warning what so ever. You can not figure. I was in the middle of a ride, Volt meter (Digital Dakota built in alarm flashes when there is a problem) had no issues what so ever, stoped & turned off the bike and the battery died. Would not even start a bike when push started and all of the lights were off et. Al. Read about it above. There is no prevention for this. I do not need any battery tender because I live in S. Florida.
