Default Metzeler tires for touring

I have stock hd dunlops on my 07 roadglide. Im looking to upgrade to metzeler 880 marathons oem size tires. Im looking in the drag catalouge and see they offer the stock tire size ( mt90b-16 , 72h ) front and the (mt90b-16, 74h ) rear. Theres another set that my local dealer suggested over them (130/90h-16, 67h ) front and (130/90 hb -16, 73h) rear. I was told these were better due to a stronger compound and that they would allow for higher air pressure. Can anyone shed some light on this situation maybe suggest the best way to go and why. Thanks !!!

I used Metzler 880 marathons on my old bike and I loved them. I can not wait for these Dunlaps (which I am sure is a good tire) to wear. I will be going to the Metzlers. I don't know about the other tire. Sorry.

I ran metzler 880s on my old honda for over 4 yrs. very good tires except for wear, I could only get around 10k on a set. I've got an 09 eg and so far I think the stock (redesigned) dunnies are far superior, 2000 miles and no wear at all.

If you're riding a lot of twisties, mountain roads, and you really require the grip, then the Metz 880's are pretty darn good from my experience. They weren't so good for longevity, and they were a bit pricey for my tastes. But for all around performance, grip, wear, price, etc., I'm hooked on the Dunlop Elite 3's. Hard to just take someones recommendation on tires as we all ride differently, but those that have tried the Elite 3's seem to really like them. Just one opinion....

They are great tires. I had them on my VTX when I had it. I don't ride really hard but don't baby it either and I was getting around 12-14k out of them. Same as the Dunlops. Only a few dollars more. I did like the grip that they had. Definitely worth getting. I'll be replacing my stocker soon and the 880's will be going on.

Regarding price, my ME880 I just put on the rear of my King was only $6 more than and HD-Dunny. I like them for serious riding (which is what I consider a 4,000 mile road trip to be) and like them much better than the Dunny on a wet road!

This is totally opposite of my experience riding the ME880's in the rain. I found them to be downright scary. It felt like my dirt bike days...sliding through the lane was possible at any sweeper or turn in the road. I couldn't wait to get those tires off and get back to the 402's. All is well again...40 miles in the rain today with no sliding. YMMV ..definitely applies to tires.

I always used Metz on my RTs and LT and loved them. I now have Michelins on my Ultra and really like them over the Dunlops. I like the way they grip the road, but it could just be in my head...which is a big part of riding, imho.

I'm running the Metzler's and really like them over the Dunlop's.
