Default chrome windshield trim on FLTR

Is the rubber weather strip supposed to remain on the windshield
when putting on the chrome trim ??
If it is supposed to be used, has anyone not used it ??

Thanks

Terry

Default windshield rubber moulding

When I had the HD stock or Tall shield I kept the rubber.
Changed to a clearview shield & tossed it.

Well lets see I fought to keep it on with the stock shield but got it back on with the chrome trim fought it for a wile with clearveiw and tossed it with no problems and tried to put it back on with the clockwerks shield said screw it and run without and have had no problems trim defiantly fits better with out and has its own rubber seal so why bother all seems fine without JMHO

Thanks.........I'm getting tired of fighting with the
rubber trim. Thought about glueing it on the
windshield, to keep from fighting with it.
My concern was the chrome trim resting on the faring and scratching it.

Another hunnert dollars slides outta the wallet !!!

I put a few dabs of silicone sealer along the rubber trim.... kept the trim in place when I put the Clearview on the RG...major PITA otherwise

I just installed over it with no problems whatsoever. The only quirk I noticed was that on the left side the moulding did not fit perfectly until I tweeked it a bit and the slot is really needed as it does not work without the play in it.

I bought a 2nd rubber thing, took a glass sealer, and glued it to each of my 2 shields. (stock & shorty)

It makes switching them a breeze.

If you look at the CVO shield, which looks like it doesn't need a rubber "gasket," that MIGHT be the way to go. (If you haven't already dropped $150 for the shorty black one.)
