I went back to the dealer and asked about an estimated delivery date and there wasn't one. Based on that answer I asked for a refund and the parts guy said he would break dealer policy and give me one instead of a store credit. Thanks again for the heads up!
I got the McEwin silver face kit, pretty good match to the oem, The sender is the proper size for the oil pan no adapter needed. Pretty easy install. Ordered mine from Phat Performance. Quick shipping and if you spend 99 ships free.
I just installed the McEwen oil temp guage on my 2007 Ultra this weekend..... The install is relatively simple.......BUT...... installing ther new guage in the dash can be a 2-3 beer event.... Not much room and skinned knuckles.... Looks GREAT in there though... I had a tough time getting the plug out of the sump until I heated the bike up and the hot oil let the plug turn out.... Not a bad job at all,,, I have an extra ambient air guage,,, "HD factory model" I will sell CHEAP if you need another..... LOL
I'm thinking of replacing the air temp gauge on my classic glide with an oil temp gauge. Are these easy to install? I was also wondering if the dipstick lcd gauges are an option to consider.
Air temp gauge worthless to start with, did same thing you are going to do then all I did was watch oil temp and worry about how hot it gets. 265 on hot days of 115 deg temps.
Just adds another thing to worry about.

That's why I never take a tire pressure gauge either too much to worry about. Lived in Phoenix, you just need one gauge: hot and fuc8ing hot.

I sistered the sending unit wires along the clutch cable avoiding the tank issue and tapped power from inside the fairing. As for the sending unit adapter, it depends on which gauge you go with. The HD unit will need an adapter for the oil pan installation. It is a 3/8 NPT (M) x 1/8 NPT (F), Napa # 3220 x 6 x 2. The McEwen gauge comes with an adapter. Actually, the sending unit works best in the oil line (if using the HD unit) but is much easier to install in the oil pan.
SOOS...thanks for the AWESOME info that we usually come to expect from you!
