I personally know a guy, Frank, who rides a 99 Ultra. He lives in Wilson NC. Last time I saw the bike last September it had 186,000 miles on it and still had the stock pistons and crank set up. Yes it's loose but it's still running. He rides it to and from work 35 miles each way every day, rain or shine.
...and as stated, don't baby her too much either. Just give as much care with with her maintenance as you want to receive back in return. Shift to keep her within the normal power band and grab a hand-full when you feel like it - it's fun. Then you can grab a REAL handful if you need to and she'll respond faithfully... for a loooooooong time.
Some decent reads for 'ya . Watch out for TexasRedneck though. He's too funny for this 'ol man - I have to change my "depends" sometimes from laughing so hard.
The dealership that services the bike is having a big party April 4th to celebrate. Wonder what he's spent to go a million miles on the same bike. Last HOG chapter meeting, they announced that this guy did 30 Iron Butts in a row (30 days in a row) last summer.

WOW! I think the MoCo should present him with a brand new one and put that one he has on display at the Museum. That's quite an accomplishment!
One of the guys I ride with also named Frank just had his reman'd at 138,000 miles. Was still running good, but was just starting to get loose. 02 EGS he uses it to commute to work.
