Has anyone installed the relocator kit for the cargo pak on an Ultra? What do you have to do to switch it out? Should I have the dealership install it?
I did the Kurakyn relocator in about two hours. Just follow the instruction and go slow so you don't scratch anything.
Have a blanket ready to set the tour pak on.
i did the kurykan also and I am not the most mechanically inclined but was able to do it no problem. Instructions were very simple and easy to follow. I will say a 2nd pair of hands to reattach the tour pak would be helpful. Not at all heavy, just a bit awkward to hold onto when reattaching nuts and bolts.
I'm a little concerned with how the unit connects to the bike up front... How do you access the two bolts?
Remove the seat and side bags. remove the tour pack, then remove the 2 #3 phillips screws and remove the cover plates.. the torx screws are under the plates.
It took me 2 hours to do mine, but I had to relocate the enhanced sound system amp. Should be fairly simple, just take your time and use blankets on the fender and tourpack.
He makes a tour-pak relocation kit that is allot better then anything else out there, and allot easier to install.
$95 Shipped
It allows you to use the stock position (remove George's kit, 10 bolts out, 5 bolts in), or swich between 1.25" back and 2.5" back by removing 5 bolts and putting them back in at the new location. This can be useful if you ever expect to ride with different passengers.
This kit can't be beat............hands down. I have it installed on my bike in the 2.5" back position.

Steve
Darn and Double darn... I won a new Kuryakyn set for $137 including shipping on Ebay on Friday... Wish I would have known... The extra 1/2" would have been nice...
thunder, you won't be dissapointed with the kuryakn at all. remember, there is a space between the seat and the tour pack. it seems just right with the kuryakan, and another 1/2 inch 'might' be too much to have your passenger comfortable.
The Kuryakn extender is the first assessory I put on the bike (for my SO). It's simple to do, just take your time and remember that your ride changes just a bit since your passenger weight is a little further back than stock, but you won't notice it by your second ride.
