+1 on that. I wouldn't be without mine. About 30 minutes to change over including the tour pack, Corbin touring seat, windshield, passenger footboards and fairing wind deflectors. And don't let the installation scare you...just take it step-by-step. I've had mine for more than 2 years, on and off regularly, and I still have all the original parts on it (no broken plastic pieces or anything). And when the tour pak is on, it's ON. My wife always falls asleep back there, and I use her for my backrest. The tour pak never even gives a hint of being loose or wobbly.

Your right 5 min if you just pop the Tour Pack on or off, which I do some times if the wife is going for a bite to eat or a short ride somewhere. It takes about 20 min to switch the Tour Pack, seat, wiring ... I tie up all wires up so they dont rub the fender, rider backrest and a quick wax of the rear fender. about 20 min for a complete switch

I much prefer riding without the TP and 95% of my riding is done without it. Can't say I notice much difference riding around town, but riding twistys, the absence of the TP is very noticeable.

Cosmetically, any bike with a TP will look better without it IMO.

I went whole hog and did the detachable TP with backrest for long distance and got a sissy bar for when we ride local. Not for nothing, I'm only gonna use the TP a handful of times a year (500 miles or more with the wife), but as everyone says, it make a BIG difference in her comfort.

If she wasnt in the picture, thered be no TP at all.

I love mine.
I think it is much smarter to buy and Ultra with the Dteach than buying a Streetglide and adding the tour pack.
It only takes 5 minutes to remove.
About the same if I have help to install.
I don't like putting it back on without help because I'm afraid I will push the bike forward and then have the stand collapse and the bike go down...

Default tour pack

While not a direct comparison I have a '96 Road King with both a detachable sissy bar and a detachable tour-pack. I love having the options that I have available. For solo riding with a clean look, nothing on the rear. Short hop with the wife, add the sissy bar. Need storage space or going out for a longer ride, throw on the tour-pack.

Looks like I am getting talked into the detachable. Is there a lock to keep someone from detaching your Pak?

Installed 1 on my 09 tonight the trouble is the hard grommet at the end of the rack . I took my dremal with round sand paper wheel and shaved it back fits like sock on a checken lip . The early models had not problems. I have the rack 0ff 2000 but left the docking hard wear on the trade in dam it.

The detachable kit I bought came with two cam-type black latches, one of them locks...on mine, the locking one goes on the left side of the bike...as I found out the hard way. They're supposed to pivot freely. And you'll probably have to bend the shank of the key to 90 degrees to fit the key in when the tour pak is on. That's what I had to do.

Let me know if you need to see a pict...

I too went whole hog and bought the detatchable kit for my King Classic Tour Pack and I am glad I did. I do have it on more than not,but when ready to go sleak and low it takes about 20min to take it off and installe the shorty black windshield and I am ready to go. But here is the big plus, when I get ready to clean the bike in that area it is soooo much easier to get to. Plus I bought all of mine from Zanotti's for 20% savings and it only took 2wks. for me to get it.
