Got my Detach TP for travelling, otherwise ride with the back rest as shown in Sig Pic .. They are both interchangable without having to use any hardware to do so..

Nuh-Nah. There's a reason why I bought the Ultra is to have more storage and have my lady ride in comfort. I'll respect others what they have to say when they consider their bike versatile both ways. Either way, I'm happy for myself w/o and them w/ detachable TP.

Tour Pak rules,

Thorey

I put it on my standard, it was an easy choice cause I needed some sort of mounting. It was a little more $, but well worth it. I use the pack about half the time, and have a few different seats and windshields etc I can change up. Keeps the look changing and keeps me from getting bored. Love the tour pack, but not all the time.

It's funny too. My wife actually prefers the backrest. She says she feels trapped by the tour pack.

There's a new detachable kit listed for '09 EGC/UC on pg392 of parts wishbook. Looks like it includes everything you need in a one stop shop. Anybody have any experience with this kit? Is there cheaper alternatives than this kit? Thanks.

I use a detachable tour pak on mine. It fits well and does not rattle at all. I rarely use it unless going on a trip but it is great when I need it. Most of the time I have a backrest with luggage rack installed and sometimes nothing. The good thing about detachable accessories is the ability to quickly change to fit the ride. I highly recommend going detachable.

I use to just put my touring pak on when I'm on a road trip or when my wife is with me. But most of the time it stays on now. I find it very convenient, when you want to wash the bike, you can get to back fender to wash, dry it and wax it easier . If I had to do it all over again, I still would go with the detachable.

Had one on my 07 but did not like it... now going to sell it along with the backrest. My wife did not like the "feel" and wanted the trunk on when she rode... found quickly that it was easier to just leave the trunk on.
