I was thinking of adding a tour pak to the king. After much discussion with the ol' lady we decided sometime this year we'll get an Ultra. I am adding the detach kit. I agree with the two bikes in one. Now I just need to find a way to convince her that I have to keep the king AND the ultra. Maybe if I ask after a night of rompin' good sex... That's how I got the King

My question would be why do you want to go with the quick release tour pack hardware if you plan on leaving it on all the time?

I think that what 08HD is saying is that he intends to use the TourPak and not just take it off and leave it off. If that is the case, I'd recommend doing it. Really changes the look of the bike. The only "problem" that I had was that the license plate bracket that came with the detachable kit was/is the fugliest POS that I have ever seen from the MOCO! Someone was asleep when that design was OK'd. I couldn't find an aftermarket bracket that would work, so I made a bracket out of .090" aluminum that relocates the license plate under the taillight. Really cleans up the rear fender.

I have a detachable and never take it off anymore. The few times I did, I was always looking for something that I kept in it.

I don't think I will put my Pak on unless, the wife or kids ride or I need storage to pick item up around town.

You role the wiring up and leave it under the seat.
I went to Canadain tire and got a 12" floppy syle antenna and mounted it sideways inside the fairing. It's always connected. I leave the anntena wire that went to the tourpac under the seat all the time.
