I own a 2006 1200C and rented a 2009 RG a couple of weeks back. I was impressed with the maneuvering. When parked next to my sporty that thing was a beast. I commute 50 miles just about everyday and once I get home the wife likes to go for another 30-40 mile spin. I personally feel the RG handled better in the curves 2-up than the sporty ever could. The wife was not so tight against me that I was being forced forward on the seat.

Well, my new 2009 RG will be picked up Saturday and the sporty will be gone. I thought it was good enough to make the trade. If you rent one for a weekend, you better be ready to buy

Ya know when it comes right down to it, most people who belong to a Harley forum, social network, or HOG chapter will predictably all tell you pretty much the same thing. They love their....<fill in the blank>......and you would too. "Life's too short & you only live once, go ahead an buy it." Since this comes down to a matter of finances, in particular YOUR finances, I'd say isn't the best place to come seeking such advice.

Seems to me, playing it safe is just that....safe. Buying another bike is a roll of the dice. Maybe things will turn out fine....then again, with the economy the way it is, maybe it won't. Nobody can accurately predict the outcome.

It's your call to make, but either way I'm sure the people here will support your decision no matter what you decide.

Mentally prepare yourself for the snickering behind
your back, finger-pointing and laughing as you ride by.
Some folks even spread false rumors about you if you
own a R/G........resembling a "red headed step-child" !!!!!

If your bank account is in check and wifey approves,
by all means step into the BaggerWorld and enjoy that R/G.
My wife and I are glad we bought ours last year.....

Take a demo ride on the RG, and carry your main squeeze. if it feels right.... and the numbers work, and you think you will weather this current economic storm. then make your own decision.

How in the world someone could say a Road Glide and a Sportster has the same amount of rider/passenger/luggage space???? I dunno..... just dunno

Believe me when I tell you, nobody on this Forum is hoping spring comes MORE than me. I'm in TOTAL withdrawal, and it snowed again last night, and it's going to again tonight. You're absolutely right, I need help. Perhaps my flight to Dallas, TX next week and a rental will help cure my problems. I know I'm a little over the edge.... But come on, no more storage or room for a passenger than a Sportster. This is a Road Glide we're talking about here Bob!
