Default cam chain tensioners

Did anyone change their tensioners and if they did did they change the inner and outer bearings, and did they buy the bearing installing tool and the cam lock tool. Also did they go to the gear drive or did they do the tensioners. thanks Drew

i replied briefly on another thread as well drew, yes i did replace the cam bearings mainly because i was replacing the cam itself. I dont' think you'd have to replace teh bearing if you are just replacing the cam chain tensioners. Given i would be having the cam out, just made sense to spend the $10 to replace the inner bearings (outer bearing came with the cams).

As for tool purchase, i'm having the work done, so i'm assuming he already has the tools necessary, and will utilize them. For the price of the tools, seems extravagant to purchase them if you aren't planning on using them more than a few times. There have been posts here in the past of places that "rent" the tools if you are so inclined to go that route.
