My dealer is having a tough time finding part numbers that I need for clutch and throttle/idle cables, so maybe someone here can help.
I recently had pullback bars installed on my bike, and the dealer installed new stainless steel braided brake lines due to the length. Per the Parts catalog, that's all my bike needs, but the throttle/idle cables look like they are stretched to me, plus I want to match the look of the braided lines.
So, does anyone know how I can get the correct braided cables for my bike that will work with the pullback bars? The Parts catalog shows the stock length throttle/idle cables, but not an extended length.
Sorry to be wordy, but I really need some help. Just point me in the direction and I'll keep working.
By the way, my bike has cruise, so that makes the throttle/idle cables even more difficult to find.
It would help if you knew or could find out what bars were actually put on the bike, that way you can check the change in rise and/or pullback and get a better idea of the added length of the cables needed.
If they were Harley bars, the description of the bars usually gives a part # of the needed cables. If you don't want to use the HD cables, get the part numbers and you can find out how long they are and order aftermarket.
They're the HD pullback bars. Per the parts book the only cable needed was the brake line. I'd imagine I need another couple of inches, but the HD Parts catalog doesn't show that available in the stainless steel braid. I may have to go aftermarket. Is there a good recommendation for aftermarket lines?
Actually the HD Diamonback braided lines are pretty good, but I think they're made by Barnett, only the Barnett are about 2/3 the price: http://www.barnettclutches.com/products/cables.aspx You can get the stock lengths off the website or call their custome service dept. for a recommendation.
Here's the numbers that I used for the sweepers on my 04 that would probably work for your pullbacks. All your dealer needs to do is cross reference them in Drag Specialties Fatbook in the cable section and look under the stainless column. These numbers are for the tourers with TLE (side hacks)

Clutch=38649-98
Throttle=38650-98
Idle=56730-03
Dawg, I'm probably going to order the braided cables directly from Barnett since they can custom make what I need. Do you know how much longer these cables are than stock? I need to tell them how much to add, which I assume is another 2 or 3 inches.

I don't know the exact length. I can confirm on Tuesday. I know the clutch is +3, but not sure on the throttle/idle
