helmets
Tks for suggestion on strap, I will check that out
I have the Harley modular and I did not like it at first. The sales lady told me that in time it would feel fine, she was wrights it took about a month but it feels fine now. Will not ride without it.
When i buy a helmet I look for two things snell aproved, and five snaps.
The reason for this is that snell gives me a sence of security and all face
shelds will get scratched up, and I don't like to look through or around a
bunch of scratches. I can replace my face sheld for around seven bucks
The Arai classic m is my helmet of choice

No modular will ever attain a Snell rating as per their requirements.
I have a Multitec and love it. Did too much research about modulars. Ended up between a Shoei Multitec and a Caberg (no longer available in the US though).
Ride all the time with helmet. I have a Scorpion EXO-400 (not modular) and it is much quieter, but there is always a trade off. Summer riding the modular is a must in stop and go traffic.
Choose the one that best fits you...helps make you keep it on your noggin'!

I have a Shoei MultiTec and, as bigskyhd said, mostly wear during inclement/cold weather situations. I have worn it 2x for long rides that were pure highway because my former 3/4 helmet (HJC) was okay for comfort, but not as good as my MultiTec.
That said, the quality of the Shoei, IMO, is better than many others.
When I was researching prior to buying, I went to Performance Cycles here in Denver, which has helmets from a lot of Mfr's and I tried on helmets from a variety, wearing the helmet for 30 minutes or so before shifting to the next one. I spent about 3 hours or so trying on helmets and figuring out which helmet really worked best for me.
I bought the Shoei MultiTec because it was, by far the most comfortable and I liked the fit, finish and quality.
As a result, when I was ready to pick up my new '09 Ultra on 3/21, I ordered a Shoei RJ Platinum-R 3/4 helmet for my primary helmet.

Got the N-102 for a great price though - $175 delivered off Ebay for a brand-new helmet - that's quite a bit cheaper than anyone else was selling them for at the time.
thanks everyone for the great replies. It sucks living where I do because the closest Shoei dealer is 45 miles away and the closest Nolan dealer is 80 miles away and their in opposite directions... I guess I'll try to find a stealer that sells both..
I cut the foam around the speaker area. If you look inside the helmet you will see a seam which sourounds the speaker area, providing you cut inside that seam you are fine. Biggest pain was having to cut the speaker wires and resolder them to get a neat wire run inside the helmet. No idea why HD don't put small connectors right by the speakers??

BTW, the helmet is great. I took the ERC this past Sunday. Started out at 0620 with the temp in the 40's. Chin bar down, face shield down, and away I went. During the course, the weather went up into the 70's. Chin bar stored in the back, face shield up, lots of air. Took about a two hour ride after the class and had a blast.
