I am considering buying the Harley Sundowner deep bucket seat for my '09 Street Glide. Is anyone using this seat on their bike, and is it more comfortable than stock? My main concern is passenger comfort. Is it comfortable for a passenger on a fairly long ride? I know a Mustang or Corbin would probably be better, but the price is right on the Sundowner, and it will only be on the bike when I have a passenger.Any info would be helpful.
Have 08 Street Glide , I had no problem with stock seat , did trip solo to New England Nova Scotia 4000 mi trip . Wife hated stock seat . She would complain around the block . Took her first ride on the sundowner on Sunday ,100 mi, she loved the new seat . Make sure you call it more comfortable not bigger don't ask me why .
I have one on my Road King, now only if the rain and cold weather here in the Northeast stops, I'll actually be able to give you a first hand review. I did have a Mustang Wide Vintage Solo on my Superglide for over 3 years and it was very comfortable on a long haul. If the Sundowner is that good, I'll be a happy guy.
I don't have an SG, but put a Sundowner on my RKC late last year.
WOW, what a great difference! I wish it was an option when you bought a bike...the stock seat on an RKC is terribly uncomfortable...especially for a "touring" motorcycle.
I had one on my Sportster and my wife loved it... Now i know it's no comparison to a Touring bike...I now have a Mustang on my 07 FLHTC A bit harder than a SUndowner but i got it for free so no complaints really..My wife loves it...I have tried a test drive with the sundowner seemed nice but it was hard to say in a 5 mile ride???
Last fall I put a Sundowner seat on my flhtc.I had tried a friends Mustang seat but it gave me butt burn due to the curve of the seat. The Sundowner seat has a flatter seat bottom and it lowered me about 1" and back 3/34".I have only put about 300miles on with the new seat but it seems good and no butt burn.
Sundowner very good. Also check out the smooth style with out the Street Glide stiching. I saw that on a bike after I got my and was bummed it just looks clean.
