more detailed info on what I'm after: Road King w/detachable front fairing and tour pack, for traveling long distances. my wife and I wear full face helmets most of the time and want to fully communicate with each other, listen to music without blaring it for the world to hear, and We need to take calls from our kids and we are both self employed (she has hair salon and I'm HVAC contractor).
She also rides solo and we want to talk to each other when riding solo. thanks to all for input so far.
Scala Q2 has everything you are looking for at great quality I use one for all plus GPS voice commands from my Blackberry Strom. I have been on the highway at 75 on the phone and the person on the other end did not even know I was on a Motorcycle.
SCALA QII Rider. I haven't used it as an intercom. Say's the range on it is approx.1500'.I have it paired up with cell phone and GPS. Good volume w/2 speakers. Long boom mike on it so mounts up on my 1/2 helmet.
You have any pics showing it mounted on a half helmet? Did you have to do anything different to mount it on a half helmet?
It's not wireless, but it is the best. I would spend the money the first time and have a proven quality system that will work for years. You can BT your phone to it, but you still have to plug your helmet into the bike. You can also run GPS, radar detector, music, cell, bike to bike (with additional 2 way radios), & cb. You never have to recharge and it's always ready to go. I have the Active Plus Duo but if I had to buy again I would go for the Super Pro Avi model. I wear an Arai FF and my wife wears a Shoei FF. I have the headset extension cable that lets me plug in my in ear speakers. It also has the helmet speakers. No problems with sound quality or volume up to 120 mph for me. www.autocomamerica.com
P.S.- The Scala is not A2DP (or whatever the term is) which means the music is not in stereo. Good quality earbuds with an Autocom sounds like you are in a music hall.

Sorry no pics. 1st you probably have to have the long boom mic., the Rider has 2 lengths. The unit comes with a clamp on backing plate and a glue on backing plate.I chose the glue on method.Just had to trim the outside edge of the molding so the plate mounts flush against the helmet shell. Cleaned off the area where the glue plate mounts(pretty much right over my left ear) with alchohol The self adhesive is tough stuff so the plate is on permenant so make sure it's where you want it.
00wildcat, Owning the blue ant headsets may not be best for you. I have the blue ant and it works well but here is a few things you may not know. First of all when I ride and use my blue ant just for cell phone use it lasts all day. It is only when the intercom is used the battery lasts 3 to 4 hours. Now if I am riding bike to bike with my wife she likes the intercom on all the time. If the intercom is on you will not know the cell phone is calling unless you have it on vibrate in your coat pocket. So basically you would have to deactive the intercom and then you can answer the cell phone. I use the blue ant on the half helmet and my 3/4. It works well on both. At speeds over 55 it is okay but make sure the blue ant speaker is next to your ear. Speeds less than that it is very good. Was the blue ant work it for me, yes. But I would love to give the new Scala Q2 a try. Hope this helps!

I can say from personal experience all the problems spoken about with the Blue Ant in this post are a non issue with the Q2. the phone gets type priority and if you are on an intercom call and the phone phones ring you will her tones speak and your phone will be answered. Someone trying to get you on intercom will hear a double beep till your phone call is over. Next in line is the GPS so if you are on Intercome the GPS will break in and give you directions and then you go right back to intercome. Works very well all with out every having to touch your phone or headset.
+1 on the Scala Rider Q2. My wife has her own ride and we are able to stay connected all the time. It is voice activated so no problems using it while in the twisties. JC Motors has a smoking deal on it.

Whats the JC Motors deal I am a site sponser and the multi set is 274.00 less your 10% so it comes to 246.50 shipped as all order over 100.00 are free shipping. That is for the Multi Set which is two Paired Q2's. If you are looking for the single unit it comes to 161.99 Shipped.

Thats a pretty sweet deal. Will the Q2 system receive the radio and phone? Does it attach to a half helmet? I need to buy a system and like the Q2 but am not sure of the above questions? I noticed there are different models of the Scala systems and am not sure what the deal is.
