+1 for the UC - You get all the stuff and can take it off for many different looks if you want - When I went from the Heritage to the UC, I felt cramped at first but do not notice it now - A different riding position - I like having the additional storage - If you are married, the UC will make momma happy and that is a big plus - Good luck with whatever you choose -

I guess I would have to ask you what you want from your touring bike. All the bikes in the touring class are very versatile.
The Road King can give you different looks...with a windshield or without, aftermarket fairing to give you the SG look. Add touring packages, and you have an EG or UC.
.....or you can go right to the UC and take things off to make it look like a SG or even a Road King.
It all depends on what you want from your ride. They are all in the FL-series and you will do well if you go with a tourer. They will all feel a little different out of the box, but you can always customize it to your satisfaction (seats, bars, etc...)
I have a Road King with a Dragonfly...no regrets here. For me, I just like the option of riding without a fairing or windshield, which I have both. I don't want another bike and will keep riding her as long as she lets me. However, if circumstances were such that I choose a bike today, I would get me a SG, because I ride with the fairing on all the time and never take it off anymore. I don't require the EG/UC trunk cuz I don't.
Good Luck!

So many seats to choose from and yes some will sit you down into the bike like you say you prefer. Windshield is nice at times and makes it easier to ride down into the colder temps for sure.

Thanks for all of the replies. I guess I should have stated what I wanted it for. I want another bike with bags mostly for daily commuting. I'm sure I would eventually take some long trips but for now just everyday riding and being able to carry stuff with me. The wife doesn't really show any interest in riding so it is more for my comfort. I like my fatboy the way it is and do not want to put any bags or wind shield on it. I think I just need to keep test riding some bikes.

You really need to test ride a RG if you feel cramped on a batwing. I have had a Roadking Classic, Street Glide and now the RG. I like them all and would love to have all three, but the RG feels roomy. Check it out....

I moved from a Fatboy to a SG. The wind issues on the SG can be very easily fixed with a different windshield, a between the fork wind deflector, and those adjustable wind deflectors you mount on the bottom of the fairing.

As another poster said, it just depends on how you want to ride. If you need storage then you can add the tour pack to the SG. If you ride two-up frequently, then just go with the Ultra. On the SG, if want additional wind protection then you can get the hard lower fairings like on the Ultra.

For me, I chose the SG because of its clean uncluttered and slammed look without all the extra fender lights and chrome guards. Although it is somewhat more expensive to add equipment than buying an Ultra outtright, it was the decision I made and do not regret.

That being said, my next bike will probably be an Ultra.

Whether you choose the Ultra or SG, you will not have any regrets.

This is an easy one. I'm 6'2 and with the stock seat I was very cramped on my Ultra; too far forward and too tall. My C&C sport touring seat solved moving me both down and back a few inches in both directions.

The Ultra comes with everything I wanted, top box, lowers, and more.

All the touring bikes are the greatest but there's a reason they call them Ultra

I am 6' even and a Clearview 8" recurve solved the wind issue for me on my SG. I still look well over the top of it, too.

If your going to use it mainly as a daily commuter, I would suggest the Road king, I had a classic and it was a great bike. Lighter than my Ultra, good wind protection, storage for jacket, sweater, even carried a half helmet in the bags.

I'm probibly one of the few that won't try to convince you to get what I own, I do a lot of group riding with the wife, and the CB and intercom were the main features along with storage needs that made me decide on the Ultra. I do wish I could have kept the Road King as well.
