Default Touring model decision

I have been saving for a touring model and was leaning towards the ultra or street glide. I had a chance to test ride the ultra and though very comfortable it felt kind of cramped. I don't know if that is becasue my fatboy has a low laid back seat position and is dropped 2", so i sit in and not on it or if I am just not used to the lowers being on there. I also rode the street glide and that did feel more comfortable and let me stretch out a bit but the wind was so bad from underneath it felt like it was going to lift my helmet off my head. My next thought is should I get a Road King. I have not ridden one yet so not sure how the wind will feel behind the wind sheild. Basically I am looking for opinions on any changes in seats or windshields people have put on their bikes to adjust to these conditions.

I like that I can remove the fairing on the RK and the RK transforms into different rides depending on if I have the backrest, windshield or just naked. It's cool to be able to dress and undress your bike

There is also a between the fork air baffle that for me made all the difference in the world with the wind from underneath. Then I got a recurve windshield and all is well.

Default roadglide

what ever you do ,before you make a final choice you have to demo the roadglide . ask anyone who ownes one its unlike any other harley made, the batwing is a sweet bike ,but the fixed fairing makes a HUGE difference. goodluck in your chioce.

Dollar for dollar I think the Ultra is a better buy. You can put a shorter windshield on, take off the tour pack and the lowers when you want to but it's nice to have all that stuff on long rides.

The RK is a great lookin bike, but when I roll out of town onto them little 2 lanes it is soo cool to turn the tunes up an roll away!!!! and they aint nothing rolls the miles like the Ultra. so if yur touring is a couple hundred miles a couple times a week then the RK is great and the street glide is good here too. but for the long miles the Ultra is top dog!!!
the Ultras long travel suspension is never going to sit as low as a sloptail framed bike, but after the 3nd or 4th 500 mile day in a week you'll learn to love the soft suspension. it's that trade off. soft an tall or short an hard. Theres a reason you see mostly Ultras being rode 15K 20K 25K a year and thats cause they are easy to roll them kind of miles up on.
but test ride everything you have any intersest in. better to know what you dont want now.

DO NOT ride the RG. They are ugly and have a VERY SPACIOUS cockpit. I am sure you would not like it.
