Default Can I get reimbursed for my warranty?

I bought an '08 S.G. last July, and got a five year extended warranty with it. After driving it for the rest of the year I got disgusted with the stock performance of the engine. I now want to have some aftermarket engine work done to bump the h.p. and torque. This would void my warranty, so I figured if possible I'll cash it in with Harley, take the money that I paid for it, and put it towards a big bore kit. But, can I get my money back from Harley? I should be able to since that doesn't even kick in for another year and a half.

Also, does anybody have this, and if so, are their numbers verifiable?

It only affects the coverage of the part you altered...The rest of the bike would be covered. If your 103 is done by the Dealer it should be covered by them.

You can cash it in. You will loose some money but you can go back to the dealer and cash it in. When they ask why just tell them you are going to sell the bike. That's what I did.

Why get rid of the warranty! You only kill the warranty for the part you're modifying out of manufacturers specs! And even then, if you have a good dealer you work with and they did the work...they might still work with you on some things!

Now...if ya just need the money...that's different!

Read Section 10, Item 3 of the contract. It's on the back page upper left.

The refund will be pro ratted from the inservice date of a new bike les a $35 processing fee.

Does that mean the five years run the same time as the factory warranty? And you would lose some of what he paid? How much besides the 35 dollars or is there a formula to figure out.

Should be 35 dollars and pro rated after the factory warranty ran out.

I did this on my last bike and they did not give me the money they sent it to the bank and it was applied to my remaining balance which put me 4 payments ahead.

No, the additional five year warranty doesn't start until after the factory two year warranty is up. But after listening to what the other people have to say about Harley possibly warrantying it assuming they do the work, I may just keep it. I really like the idea of being under warranty for seven years regardless of mileage.

I had my 88 motor re-built to a 95 and put cnc ported heads on my 2006 Heritage. Had a 5 year warranty, owned bike one year when re-built motor. Found out later warranty no longer covered the motor even though dealer did upgrades. Since motor is most expensive part of warranty work I might need I felt it wasn't worth the extra years I had paid for. I later traded the bike off and got pro-rated warranty back.

If warranty is five years and you keep it two, you get 3/5's of warranty back minus ($35?) fee. Usually something you have to remind dealer of. The money goes back to them and they write you a check for it. (Or that's how it is done here) If you don't ask for it, they don't tend to mention it.
