Get it all from the dealer and be done with it and all under warranty. There is no noticeable difference in performance no matter which brand you use for those three mods. I would go HD.
There are plenty of opinions here but Jamie at Fuel-moto can give you numbers. CAll him and visit before you buy elsewhere. Great prices, great products great service. Plus if you change things later he will be able to send you new maps.
Thanks, I love the look of both bikes, but I think a Road King would just suit me better. I want a bike I can own for many years and put alot of miles on. What seat do you have on your bike JonnyD? I want to change to a solo seat.
It's a Mustang. It's no secret, many move from softail/dyna/sportster to the touring bikes. But I did it because of need. If my wife rode, or didn't like to be a passenger, I would have kept the Deluxe.
I have been told that I do not need a sports tuner with cobra slip-ons. Is that true?
you should be ok with just slip ons, but if you change the intake definitely fuel mgmt.
keep in mind these engines run hot. even before I changed my intake, slipons out and the bike was stock, it would go into parade mode while sitting in traffic.....that's too hot.
you spent a lot for a bike, get the intake and pcv to cool that engine down so it lasts!
I think you will get much more bike with the Road King vs. the Deluxe. The prices are about the same, actually cheaper for the Std Road king Vs. Deluxe and you get Dual discs on the front of the King, 6 gal tank, removeable windshield, better suspension, cruise Std on the Classic, SADDLEBAGS!
As far as performance, that's up to you. If your just going with stage 1, either Sert or PC V, any a/c kit will do, and it's just down to what you want your bike to sound like with the exhaust.
Thanks very much for the info. I definately want my pipes loud, but gaining a few horses would be nice too. I will probably buy my parts online and take them to the dealer for dyno tuning.
JonnyD, did you change out the handle bars on your RK? IMO, your road king looks alot better than the Deluxe.... I love both bikes though.
I AM GOING TO PICK UP MY NEW ROAD KING THIS EVENING FROM THE DEALER!!!!!!!!!!
