Default 09 Road King Performance Question

Hello, I went to my local dealer today to look at a 09 Road King. I had been looking at a Softail Deluxe but really like the road king better. The only performance upgrades I plan on doing to the bike are going to be exhaust (I am looking at Vance and Hines or Rhinehart) Intake (Harley Heavy Breather) and a tuner ( SERT ). I want the most power I can get and want to buy the best parts the first time. The dealer said I could purchase all these parts at the time of purchase and add it to the final cost of the bike along with dyno tuning and installation when I get 1000 miles on the bike. My question is, would this be a good setup (power wise)? I have read alot about the power commanders, but my dealer said the Sert would be covered under my bike warranty. Like I said above I want the most power I can get with these 3 mods. I appreciate your thoughts and opinons. Thanks

Get an Aren Ness Big Sucker, and Harley Race Tuner. As far as the pipe go what you have selected are for sound not power. Rinehardts sound good but are too much$, go wth theV&N. If you want power go with a ThunderHeader

on the 09 the pipes are all about the same. not very big gains by changing the headpipe. air intake slip ons and a tuner are the first step next would be heads and cams.my choice would be fuel moto for the pc im not a fan of some kid right out of school trying to use a sest its real easy to get a bad map. fuelmoto has an exelent rep for goood maps (tuning is all they do) and some dealers will try and viod warenty even with sest if your out on the road pc can be removed b4 warenty work.

What about the Vance and Hines Power Duels setup with a set of vance and hines slip ons. Dyno tuning would need to be done with any tuner upgrade right?

I checked out Fuel Moto and they seem like a good company to do business with, but if I bought the tuner would I still need a dyno tune from the dealer?

This is a tough one for me. I sold my 06 Deluxe to get my RKC. I loved my Deluxe, and wish I still had it. Do you tour or ride 2 up a lot? If not, reconsider the Deluxe, they are a fabulous bike. Much more agile, low slung, and far more fun to ride than any touring bike.

I HAD to trade up, because they just aren't the best choice for long 2 up riding. But I did lots of riding myself on it, and did shorter trips 2 up with it. Since my wife loves to ride with me, and we go long distance, we made the change. But if not for that, the FLSTN would still be in the garage.

Thanks, I love the look of both bikes, but I think a Road King would just suit me better. I want a bike I can own for many years and put alot of miles on. What seat do you have on your bike JonnyD? I want to change to a solo seat.

can't go wrong with FuelMoto...lots of very satisfied/happy customers here. Their "canned" tunes will work just fine without a dyno.

NOOOOOOOOOO................PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
NOT ANOTHER SERT VS. POWER COMMANDER THREAD!!!

No, but seriously...there's nothing that says that the air intake on an H-D Heavy Breather is better than say a Kuryakyn Hypercharger or MoFlow breather when combined with other combinations of pipes & fuel management devices? It's all personal preference. I've heard that as far as power goes, that Rineharts give off the best dyno numbers? That may be true, but I personally don't like the sound of Rineharts & think they're deep, but too quiet. Now do you want performance or sound? A SERT, True Duals & a Heavy Breather is a nice set-up, but the "best performance set-up"...I'm not so sure about that? As far as which bike to go for?...well you already know what I'm gonna say about THAT! (Oh ya, I can already see this thread going 7 pages atleast!)
