Have only used UPS to ship stuff home, from Bike Rally's, or longer trip where the wife says. "I cant live without it" LOL Unless its a realy busy week, I dont even make hotel reservations as dependent on weather, or just issues in general If you dont make it. many hotels will charge you a No Show or last minute cancellation delay. Never not had a place to stay in over 15 years.
My thoughts are if I can't pack it, I don't need it. We spent three weeks on a Fly & Ride in Australia with just what we could pack on the Ultra, and have done plenty of trips here in the States as well.
I've shipped stuff home while on the road, works great, don't care when it get's home.
One thing to consider is whether your pre-planned drop shipping to your next destination will get there. We own a small inn in a resort town, and one of our guests (in a group of 9 bikers) shipped everything to our inn. He was less than pleased when it showed up AFTER he checked out for a 3 day stay. Shoulda' heard his buddies razzing him about the clothes he had to buy to wear around. We're on an island, so unless he wanted to drive a fair way to get something decent, he was stuck with what we had available. His wife, however, loved it.....
