Just hit 15,000 miles on my 09 and the PC V has been installed for 6500 of them. I could not be more pleased. I am posting this hoping it will help someone in the summer.
I installed the PC V, auto tune, and A/F initially on the bike in December. I left the pipes stock. I loved the way the bike ran and sounded but then I took it to Bike Week. In all the traffic, the bike constantly went into temperature management mode. It was so hot it made me worry.
With the maps from Fuel Moto I did not want to make any changes. One reason why is it ran so good. I then decided to change the pipes hoping it will cool it down some more. Listening to all the pipes at Bike week I decided on the Jackpot. Great choice but on a trip to the gulf coast I ran into construction traffic. No change in the heat. My right leg was cooking and again the bike was going into temperature mangement mode.
So I called and talked to Jamie. It feels so good to not be alone after a product is installed. The Fuel moto guys set a standard so high for customer service. I told Jamie that I notice on the initial installation I monitored the bike on the laptop using the power commander software. I noticed when the bike was at idle my AFR readings fluctuated. Cylinder 1 would be around 14.7 and cylinder 2 would be a little higher. On the map Jamie had me to lower some of the settings. Go to the table on cylinder 1 and under the 0% throttle setting was the number 3 in the 750rpm to 1500rpm column. I increased the number to 7. As soon as I did the AFR on Cylinder 1 dropped to 13.2. So I changed the number from 7 to 4 and the AFR was now at 14.0. On Cylinder 2 I did the same thing but the setting was left at 5.
On my way back from the coast I went through the same construction zone. No heat issues and the bike never went into temperature mangement mode. The bike is not only running cooler but it idles a lot better. I was told also by Jamie to not use the Auto tune for this change. Just change the map.
So basically what I am saying is hook up the laptop and monitor the AFR's at idle. If your AFR's are running high make the adjustment so you want get the right leg to hot during the summer!
I got stuck in traffic last evening with the RG. Just came off the highway after a 10 mile run, temp in the low 60's, Mobil 1 in the crankcase, PC V from FuelMoto installed, and also a HD oil cooler. Mine went into heat management after only a few minutes and I was puzzled as to why. I thought I had done everything possible to prevent this from happening. Thanks to your post, at least now I know where to start checking. Thanks for the heads up!
hmm thats weird the fuelmoto guys told me not to enter any values under the 0% column. I was going to toy with it myself anyhow to try and sort out some decel rumble, but i had been told to leave the 0% values alone. confused.
Once again FuelMoto shine through with excellent Customer Service! Bamarider...thanks for the heads up! I'm gonna check this one Myself!
Ride Safe, Mike
Not sure about that one...emailed Jamie on 18 Apr to ask about help for a new map...no answer (today being 21 Apr at 10:49pm). If your not going to answer emails, then why put "for questions, email...?"
