You better read the fine print on the AAA towing stuff or better yet, call them. I got screwed on a tow while being a "plus" member. They wanted to charge me after 15 miles because that was the distance to the nearest repair facility.
Good Sam takes me where I want to go, not where THEY want me to go. I have already used their towing services 2 different times as well as their free lockout service. Why? Becuase I have 2 teenage daughters and a wife.
Fine print or not, I've been a plus member for about 25 years and I seem to need something- a tow, jump start at -20, etc at least 2 times a year. I have also never had a vehicle taken to the same repair facility that supplied the hook, which is why I specifically purchased a plus membership. Any towing facility which is AAA certified and tells you different is incorrect. Incidently, after 5 incidents a year, you will likely demoted from a plus to a regular membership. I recall that a standard HOG membership is somewhat limited in coverage anyway.
I have CAA ( Canadian version of AAA ), for my truck and house insurance. It does not cover my Ultra or the wifes RK.
I got 1 yrs subscription when I traded in for my new bike.
It's time to renew now, and I do like the mag, but I was wondering. Do any of you have the HOG roadside assistance?
My CAA is about $80 per year, and most of my travelling in my truck is close to home. However we do long raod trips on the bikes and I would like to get some " assurance " for those trips.
What do you think, or is there a better plan out there that I can use as a Canadian?
