I've recently come back to HD from a Truiumph Rocket III. I've decided to get into an '09 RK Classic, and I want the 110 engine. i will have the
shop modify the stock engine. i have read about numerous updgrades ie Timken bearings, crank mods, etc. Can you folks tell me what needs to be done to build a reliable and durable 110 inch motor for my bike ?
you have several opitons; if warranty is important do the 110; but if not check into S&S 106, AMS 105, HQs 107, R&R, Zippers, if you stay 107 or below no crank work is requires.
Always get parts that compliment each other; a complete motor kit is the way to go.
If you plan on going beyond 107 -- 113, 120 or 124 is the way to go crank work and case splitting is required. Darkhorse is the major player in crank work.
Do it correctly the first time and save lots of $$$.
A reputable builder and tuner is a must.
