I just bought a 09 king and was wondering the best route to take with pipes. I have a sporty as well and that one was simple. With the King do i use slip on or full pipes? on deployment right now so I have time to think this one through. Thanks
welcome. you will get dozens of different opinions about this topic. best to stop by your local HD dealer when you get back and listen to bikes in person as they pull in. give us details about what you want (loud or not). budget? ultimate goals for bike, etc. cannot go wrong with FuelMoto (an sv here) and upgrade your intake. exhaust and ECM
I have a set of slip-ons made by RUSH. I am happy with them. I had a set on my 07 duece also. RUSH recomends getting a dyno tune when you get into 2" diameter pipe. My buddies girlfriend also has a road king and she has the screaming eagle slip-ons. I think the RUSH sound better. Hope helps in your decision.
Well gentlemen i am amazed in the fast responce in this place, I want a loud bike but not to loud. My sporty will have your ears bleeding. I like the nice rumble, but i am still young enough to want to rock out. I have contacted a local shop in Jax and they reccomended v+h big shots, Arlen big sucker, and fuel pak. The same comment was made by my friend here, he told me to go home and break her in and just listen to what everyone else has, but we all know how that goes, we have to drop another 2 grand on a bike when we get it. thanks guys again, and I will be home soon, and safe.
I have V&H true duals with fishtail tips on my RK Classic. Loud, but not obnoxiously loud and they have a very unique sound. I get complimented on the bike(sound) all the time. I also run V&H big radius pipes on my softail with no baffles...VERY LOUD
The true duals are a set and i believe they were aroung 650 to 700. Then I got the race tuner put on, another 250. They sound great. I wish I could describe them better. Now every time I go under an overpass, I goose it just to hear the pipes. PM me an e-mail address and I will send some pics. The pictures I have are very high res and won't post on this forum.
