but I'll keep running Amsoil in all three holes -- 60,000 miles can't be a bad thing and my cam chain adjuster had about 50 percent wear at 52,000 miles -- but since I was in there, I changed it anyway.
Maybe the Harley Tech was referring to Harley Synthetic -- in that case I would surely change it. In my opinion Harley Dino is superior to Harley Synthetic
People that use the Syn3 should do a bit of research. I heard Sonoco makes Syn3 for Harley and it's not full synthetic. I'm like you, I'll stick with the leader's like Amsoil and Mobil1. I use Amsoil but theres other good syn's! JMO!
Im glad you asked. Ive heard the same thing. I was told that the needle bearings are failing because it is too slick and they skate rather than roll causing flat spots on the needles that leads to them failing. I am running the regular HD oil in my evo motor right now and bel ray synthetic in the tranny. I just ordered a new bike though and I understand the factory uses the synthetic in them?
Don't tell me this H-D dealer BS is re-surfacing about bearing skate caused by synthetic oil?? I used Mobil1 from 1st change in my 01 RK. changed the tensioners at about 50K and went to cam gears at about 58K. there was no evidence of wear in the cam bearings removed and replaced by new. I traded for an 09 at 69K and i'm confident the interior was still in great shape.
I hauled OD (over demension) loads for a living. Rarely did I ever haul a normal (80K lb) load. For the record my longest load was 153 feet and my heaviest load weighed 700K pounds. The heavy load was a reactor vessel for a nuclear power plant and took 2 trucks to pull it on a self leveling sled. They shored up bridges for more than a year before we moved that one!
Just goes to show that my wife is right , I don't know everything! Sorry to question your truthfulness.

You are correct -- and these are the ones I recommend to people
they are not in any particular order -- Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Red Line, Amsoil

Dont take your bike back to that dealer and tell them the reason why. Thieving **** suckers.
Another guy here with preferred choice of synthetic oil with no problems since 2002 with all of my vehicles, motorcycles and snowmobiles. Expensive, Yes...Well worth it, Yes...Any regrets, Heck No.
