I just added a leather tour pak off a CVO Ultra. The wife and I really like the leather look and it matches all paint jobs. My question is concerning weather and how it will how up in rain. Will it do okay or should I invest in a cover for protection from the elements while riding or leaving it parked outside on a trip?
Lots of good leather care products out there. I used mink oil on my bags and tour pak on my RKC. Kept them waterproof and looking like new. Of course they're plastic lined so
water getting in the tour pak isn't a problem. I was told not to use saddle soap .I would just wipe them down and oil them. Meguires makes some pretty good leather care stuff.
Okay a lot of good information as usual. That pretty much tells me what I wanted to know and how to care for it and move forward. It will not see weather very much but we have a ride to Florida next week and I have never been to Florida that I did not get wet.
I had the leather tour pac on my Herritage and just befor riding season I would use mink oil, ( Harley also make a similar product, might be silicon based ). It would look great till the end of the year ( depending how much wet weather you drive in )
