good morning,
i have a 07 fatboy and this weekend i took a 09 street glide out for a ride as it was the only touring model they had .i am interested in getting an electre glide standard for my first tourer.i gotta say i was a bit disappointed.alot of floorboard vibration and my vision was bouncing up and down terribly.i asked some friends with touring models and they told me ,MAYBE it was the way the wind rolls off the fairing, hitting me in the face.i liked the rest the bike had to offer but that vision thing bugs me.i kinda think maybe the bike had something wrong, maybe unbalanced tires?has anyone experienced this before or am i nuts, and if so is there anything to try or do to remedy this problem?
Regards,
fatbotartie
PS. sorry for the lack of spell check on the previous thread.
I have an 09 SG and was riding it home from Southern California to central Oregon and after about three hours riding with the stock windshield I stopped at a harley dealer and purchased the only windshield thay had for an electraglide which was a 9.5" tinted. Man that windshield made all the differenct in the world, I am 6'2" and that stock windshield looked cool it just beat the sh** out of me above about 40 mph. For me the 9.5" is just right and the stock shield on the Electraglide Standard, Classic, Ultra is 12". The only problem with the 12" is you look thru it not over it, so that is your call. I just purchased a 9.5" clearview tinted with recurve and should have it and a couple of weeks. As far as the floor boards go the ones on the standard, classic and ultra have a more of a rubber pad so there is less vibration than the stock floorboards on the streetglide so that also will be better, I do not have any issues with the floorboards but the windshiled will make all the difference in the world in the overall ride quality. I would not hesitate to tell you to purchase any of the glides as they are all awsome machines and work great, just buy the best one for your needs and budget. Good luck

HD is no dumbies! On a SG the 4" is too short, on the UC the 12" is too high! Everybody buys a new 9.5" one!
When I bought my SG (used) it came with a 10" clear windshield on it. I did not get much for wind and i'm 6' tall. I recently put on the stock windshield and noticed a significant increase in wind buffeting ect. I am going to be investing in a klockwerks 6 1/2". Hopefully that will allow me to find a happy medium for looks and usefulness
I had a 2006 Heritage Softail Classic. Vibration at 65 mph + drove me nuts so I went with touring model. They vibrate more at low speeds but are smooth at 65 +. I travel on highways more than I do in town. I don't notice floor boards vibrating any more.
