I had cross winds in Kansas make me do an unexpected lane change on my Ultra, NOT FUN.

It can be super bad running from Mitchell SD to Sturgis too. I remember seeing semi's flipped on the side after a bad windstorm.

I briefly debated trying to get stopped and get it on the side stand, but we were doing ~50 mph and it was coming too fast. I suspect that it would have knocked me over if stopped. There just were not any good choices.

i was on the bay bridge in san francisco and the wind blew me across 1 lane

scare the hell out of me i was lucky no one was in that lane-ride safe

Ya-you've got to love South Dakota! If you waited for the wind to die down, you'd never get any riding done.

I hear 'ya. Those things can be double nasty plus can spin up without much warning at all.

A thing I learned when I lived in Arizona was fall thunderstorms can generate a terrible leading-edge head-wind too along with an awesome sandstorm. Nothing to do but seek shelter and even if trapped in the open, for sure get off the scoot.

It would blow red for about 5 minutes, then rain mud ***** for 5 or so, then monsoon for about 10, and then suddenly just stop but that's when all the dry-weather crossings would be about 3 feet deep in 40 MPH water for around 10 more minutes.
